Care & Mend
Repairing small holes in children’s clothing
Children’s garments are worn often.
Washed often.
Loved often.
Over time, small holes may appear at the knees, elbows, or along seams.
A simple mend can help the piece stay with you a little longer.
You will need:
A needle, matching thread, small scissors, and a small piece of spare fabric.
1 — Prepare
Trim away any loose threads.
If needed, gently shape the hole into a small, clean square or rectangle to make the repair neater.
2 — Place the patch
Turn the garment inside out.
Position the patch behind the hole, aligning it with the direction of the fabric.
It should extend at least 1 cm beyond the damaged area.
3 — Stitch with care
Sew around the edge using small, even stitches.
Reinforce the corners with a few extra backstitches for strength.
If using a machine, choose a gentle zigzag stitch.
4 — Finish
Trim any remaining threads and turn the garment right side out.
Smooth the fabric softly with your hands.
A small mend carries a story.
Natural fibres are made to last — sometimes they simply need a little care.
Gentle Stain Care
For little accidents
Children spill.
Milk drips.
Berries stain.
Grass leaves its mark.
Sometimes there are bigger accidents too.
Wool is naturally resistant to odour and stains,
so it rarely needs heavy washing.
When something happens, gentle care is enough.
Milk, food, everyday spills
Rinse with cool or lukewarm water as soon as possible.
Gently dab — never rub — using a soft cloth and diluted wool detergent.
Rinse well and lay flat to dry.
Berries or juice
Blot immediately with a clean towel.
Rinse from the back of the fabric with cool water.
If needed, dab lightly with diluted detergent.
Dry flat.
Grass
Apply a small amount of mild soap.
Dab gently.
Rinse thoroughly and reshape while damp.
Urine accidents
Rinse promptly in cool water.
Hand wash gently with a wool-safe detergent.
Lay flat to dry in fresh air.
Once clean and dry, the garment is ready to be worn again.
A gentle reminder
Blot, don’t rub.
Work from the outside of the stain inward.
Avoid direct heat when drying.
Small marks are part of childhood.
With simple care, your pieces can remain soft, calm, and well loved for years.
